BIOGRAPHY

ANGIE MORESCHI

Angie is a national award-winning investigative reporter, multimedia journalist and news anchor, with unique experience as a law firm communications director, investigator, consumer advocate, documentary producer, and website/social media manager. Her powerful reporting has changed laws, sent people to prison, and helped to restructure entire government agencies.

Among her many awards are an IRE Medal, National Headliner, Murrow award, 15 Emmys, and dozens of regional and local awards. She is defined by a deep desire to uncover and tell important stories that impact society and help people.

Angie now works as investigative reporter and anchor at WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh, the NBC affiliate station in her hometown.  Her reporting on the nursing home crisis during COVID won a prestigious Edward R. Murrow Region 11 Investigative Reporting Award (Large Market Television) and the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Award for Outstanding Television Investigative Series.  She uncovered that tens of thousands of Pennsylvania Turnpike drivers were blindsided by penalty fees for years when their E-ZPass transponders failed to work properly. Her tenacious reporting on this issue for more than a year led to a new law that passed unanimously by the state legislature this November. The E-ZPass Transparency Law now requires the Turnpike to notify customers when hit with these previously hidden $10 charges.

Angie has also worked at multiple other TV stations around the country, including WFTS in Tampa, WTHR in Indianapolis, WTAE in Pittsburgh, and WISN in Milwaukee.  She hosted and produced a weekly consumer segment, called Consumer Wise on Bay News 9 in Tampa and Central Florida News 13 in Orlando, and hosted and produced stories for Smart Health, a magazine-style program on health issues which aired on PBS stations throughout Florida.

While in Tampa, Angie also worked as Communications Director and Investigator for the James Hoyer Law Firm in Tampa.  At James Hoyer, a whistleblower and consumer action law firm, Angie used the unique combination of her investigative and media skills to uncover important information, produce powerful documentaries for their cases, and serve as Managing Editor for the law firms two websites,  JamesHoyer.com and ConsumerWarningNetwork.com. She also had the privilege of working side-by-side with former FBI agents and prosecutors on False Claims Act cases that returned millions of dollars to taxpayers. Angie has shared her expertise as a regular speaker for community groups and seminars at the national Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) convention.

Most importantly, Angie is a proud wife and mother to two amazing daughters who are pursuing careers in the medical profession. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science from the Syracuse University S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
